Farm and Circus blankets

These were the last of the blanket illustrations the company needed for the rest of the year. Hopefully I'll get more work from them in the new year, as this was probably the most enjoyable of projects I've worked on in the past couple of years:).

Zany & Wavy

Do you ever get the feeling when you do a job, that if you had to promote and market yourself, that you would do a better job than the client? Well, I did in this case. This was created(with 4 other designs) for baby/toddler blankets to be sold with plush dolls. After weeks of work and trying to come up with a name for the line(Zany & Wavy was what the client decided in the end), they were printed and made, as well as a really cool hangtag I designed for the blankets. The client decide to not use the hangtag for unknown reasons and they didn't sell very well because the packaging was done terribly(a ribbon was used to attach the plush doll and basically scrunched everything up, so you really didn't even see what you were buying). Seems to be the same old story with the jobs I get...I really had high hopes for this one...One day, one of my products will be uber successful. I just need to get my opinions heard!

Chick

This was done for baby blankets using a chick character interacting with other animals in different settings. Not sure if they were ever made, but these are 2 samples of printed product

Seed Bids

This was an idea of my boss' years ago to create characters from seeds. After a few designs, we came out with a bunch of characters and made 3 or 4 books out of the idea. Unfortunately, they did poorly due to awful marketing on the part of my boss's and salespeople. They really did nothing to promote these books or characters. It was too bad, considering all the time and effort I put into the project. Here is a cover to one of the books that are out in stores...Although, good luck in finding any:(

Interior spread for a book about Mermaids

This was an interior spread for a FLIP FLAP book about mermaids. It was actually a fun book to work on. I've realized, despite being a man, I enjoy illustrating girl related books...

Monster Plush dolls

These are sample plushes that were sent to the client(Illustrations based on plush above picture)Of course, they didn't ask em for my opinion on colors, materials and possible changes to make them look better. I don't think they all look bad, but the third(from left to right) looks less like a monster and more like a Amish bearded fellow...Hope the project turns out well, would love some neat plush dolls made from my drawings.

Sesame Street Test

I did this at work for Sesame Street licensing artists. The scene had to consist of Big Bird, Cookie Monster and The Count in a kitchen scene. No backgrounds were provided and the characters were not the best poses to use as reference. We never heard back from Sesame, but I'm sure this was perfect to get approval...at least the characters were, in my humble opinion.
